What is the “Filikli” kilim and rugs?
“Filikli” rugs or kilims, which are a type of Tülü weaving technique, are formed with long and soft piles thrown between the knots at intervals.
Patterns and motifs, which can be very diverse for normal carpet or kilim weaving, are limited due to the structure of Tülü kilim and rugs. For this reason, these piles, which are mostly used for decorative purposes, are created using natural wool and mohair and provide a primitive texture and appearance. The use of mohair, which has a more vivid and shiny texture compared to wool, is an important distinguishing feature. Geometric motifs or irregular abstract patterns are formed with these thrown fiddles.
