What is Tülü Weaving?
It is one of the weaving techniques used by the local people living in the high plateaus of Anatolia, which is about to disappear. The natural colors of wool and mohair, which are woven on hand looms, are generally used and colored ones; Tülü is a carpet with a long pile height, soft, coarse texture, the warp and weft threads are wool, the loop thread is mostly mohair, dyed with natural mixtures obtained by using various plants, roots and soil.
For the nomads who go to the high plateaus in the summer and return to their villages in the winter, it is easy to transport in terms of intermittent weaving and the lightness of the material. Due to its fluffy structure, it has been used as a bed, quilt, cover and carpet. Today, the usage areas of carpets or kilims woven with Tülü technique are very wide.
