Hand-woven carpets have been a source of interest for humanity since ancient times. They gained popularity in ancient times due to their ability to protect people from various hazards such as dirt, cold, and insects. Today, these carpets continue to attract attention not only for their practical function but also for their ability to take us on a historical journey, the durability afforded by the hand-weaving technique and the variety of yarns used, the ability to produce them in any desired size, the unlimited variety of dyes used, and the fact that the materials used in their production, such as yarn and dye, are naturally derived and therefore free from carcinogenic effects.
The world's largest carpet came into being thanks to one of the interesting features of these hand-woven carpets.

Because no other carpet of a larger area is known to have been produced, this hand-woven carpet, woven in Iran, holds the title of the world's largest. Another unique feature of the carpet is its single-piece woven design. The World's Largest Carpet was crafted using natural dyes. Both Persian and Turkish knotting techniques were employed in the creation of this carpet. A total of 70 different dyes were used in the carpet's threads, and covering an area of 600 square meters, it became the world's largest carpet. Great effort and care were expended in the production of this magnificent carpet, with 60 knots tied every 10 centimeters. Weighing 3 tons, the Persian carpet was completed over a six-year period. Upon completion, the World's Largest Carpet was exhibited at the Tabriz International Carpet Fair.
The carpet's surface patterns, consisting of geometric motifs such as large circles, make this the world's largest carpet even more appealing to carpet enthusiasts who appreciate geometric patterns. Furthermore, its unique motifs make it an ethnic rug.
Hand-Woven Rugs and Sustainability
Hand-woven rugs stand out for their longevity compared to synthetic varieties. They can last much longer than other synthetic alternatives. However, to maintain this durability, proper care must be taken during use and cleaning. Furthermore, while the years pass, hand-woven rugs gain their luster, they can also maintain their integrity through a certain amount of trimming, should any potential issues arise.
